Corazon Azteca celebrated its grand opening and Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting ceremony last week in style. Aztecan dancers came in for a performance at the Fourth Street restaurant and local student artwork was on display in the generous patio.

Maria Uribe and Franccita Hipolito took over Cocina Azteca which closed after four years. The prior eatery was operated by her sister who lost everything due to a lawsuit and had to close. Uribe decided to continue the restaurant in the same space but a new name, opening on Aug. 12. Not even the menu has changed.

Currently the restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch but Uribe said beginning in October dinner will be served until 9 p.m. Hours are now 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekends.
