A 47-year-old Hughson woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 120 east of Oakdale early on Tuesday.
Agueda Alverete was pronounced dead at the scene of the 3:50 a.m. crash east of Lancaster Road between Oakdale and Knights Ferry.

Alverete was driving a 1998 Mercedes westbound on the highway when she crossed the double yellow center line and was struck head-on by an eastbound 2012 Peterbilt tanker rig-rig driven by Daniel Jones, 37, of Modesto.

Jones sustained minor injuries and was taken to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto for treatment.

The California Highway Patrol said that it's not known why Alverete crossed the line but said the crash is still being investigated.
