A collision that occurred in Ceres on Friday, July 26 when a driver ran a stop sign resulted in injuries to him and occupants of the other car.
The crash occurred at 2:20 p.m. at the intersection of Service and Moore roads.
According to California Highway Patrol spokesman Tom Olsen, the crash occurred when Gerard Garcia, 49, of Soledad ran a stop sign while southbound in his 1996 Toyota Tacoma. Cross traffic does not have to stop. Garcia was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected though the passenger side window when his vehicle was broadsided by an eastbound 2019 Audi Q8 SUV.
He sustained broken ribs and a fractured spine and rushed to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.
Driving the Audi was Rosalyn Sperry, 55, of Hughson. She sustained very minor injuries to her foot while front seat passenger Maria Fatima, 52, of Stevinson was only slightly injured and not taken to the hospital.
Audi passenger Mary Jo Brasil, 62, of Turlock, riding in the backseat, sustained minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock.
Backseat passengers Miranda Souza, 34, and Morgan Sperry, 25, both of Hughson, sustained only minor injuries that did not require treatment at a hospital.
The CHP concluded that alcohol was not a factor in Garcia running the stop sign, said Olsen.
