State Assemblyman Heath Flora (R-Lodi) was unanimously elected as Republican Leader following Assemblyman James Gallagher, who has led the caucus since 2022. Gallagher stepped down and nominated Flora as his successor.
“I’m humbled by the support of outgoing Assembly Republican Leader Gallagher, our colleagues, as well as the outpouring of kind words I’ve received over these last few weeks of the 2025 Legislative Session,” Flora said.

Assemblyman Juan Alanis, R-Modesto, is the new Republican caucus chair and the Floor Leader is Kate Sanchez of Temecula. Tulare Republican Alexandra Macedo is the deputy leader.
“Together with our vice chairs of various legislative committees, to be announced later, our caucus is ready to efficiently and effectively serve the ten million Californians we represent in the Legislature,” commented Flora.
Flora’s 9th Assembly District, includes Hughson and much of the northeast part of Stanislaus County.
Alanis’ 22nd Assembly District covers Ceres, Modesto, Empire, Keyes, Turlock, Patterson, Newman and Westley.
