The California Highway Patrol is searching for a hit-and-run driver involved in a serious injury that occurred Friday morning on Crows Landing Road, just north of Glenn Avenue.

The crash was reported at approximately 9:30 a.m., and involved a motorcycle, a white pickup truck and a third vehicle.

According to the CHP’s preliminary investigation, Carlos Gonzales, 29, of Modesto, was driving a Ford F-150 pickup northbound on Crows Landing Road just north of Glenn Avenue, in the #2 lane. Daniel Perales, 34, of Manteca, was riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle in the same direction on Crows Landing Road, just south of Glenn Avenue, in the #1 lane. A white Chevrolet Silverado was gaining on the Ford pickup in the #2 lane and decided to pass around it and make an unsafe lane change and cut off the Harley-Davidson. Perales attempted to avoid a collision with the Silverado but lost control of his motorcycle, laying it down. The motorcycle slid in the #1 lane in as Perales slid into the #2 lane path of the Ford which ran him over. The driver of the Chevrolet continued driving and fled the scene.

Perales sustained major injuries and was transported by AMR ambulance to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto. His condition was not reported.

Gonzales remained at the scene and cooperated with CHP investigators.

The CHP is seeking the driver of the vehicle, which is described as a white 2019-current model Chevrolet Silverado.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Ed McGrath at the CHP Modesto Area office at 209-545-7440.
