Authorities are still investigating what led to a rural Ceres fire that swept through a mobile home in the 5300 block of Avenue D Tuesday evening, Nov. 22 and the discovery of four bodies inside.

Investigators from the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department and the Fire Warden's office are looking into the cause of the fire and the deaths.

At around 11 p.m. Nov. 22 the Ceres and Westport fire departments responded to a structure fire in the rural neighborhood. When firefighters extinguished the fire they discovered the bodies of two adults and two children inside the residence.

One source identified the child victims as Westport School students Destinee Ayala, 9, and Izayah Ayala, 5. The adults may be the children's grandparents.

The Sheriff's Department provided no further details.

Those living near the burning trailer reported hearing a bomb-like explosion go off before seeing flames.
