Keyes man killed on freeway in apparent suicide
Crash generic

A 47-year-old Keyes resident was killed Monday evening after he appeared to deliberately laid on northbound Highway 99 and was struck by an unknown vehicle.

The man’s identity was not released and pending notification of family.

The collision, which was reported at 8:18 p.m., occurred on just north of the Faith Home Road overpass. First responder located the mortally injured man lying in the slow lane and pronounced him dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation by the California Highway Patrol indicates that the man laid down on the freeway directly in front of the vehicle. He was struck and the driver continued northbound.

The CHP has evidence indicating the man intentionally intended to end his life in that manner.

The Modesto CHP encourages anyone who may have information pertinent to this crash to contact Detective Aaron Norseen at 209-545-7440.
