About the business: Lucid Motorsports is a small family and veteran owned business in Ceres working with the local community to offer an honest and reliable service.
Co-owner Abel Garcia is an Army reservist who carries out active duty orders throughout the day, going into the shop after hours. He and his cousin, Danny Roberts teamed up three years ago to start the business as their first business endeavor.
The shop offers general automotive repair but focuses on working on performance cars and restoration aspects of project cars and custom builds, excluding body work. The shop routinely deals with suspension, shocks, brakes, wiring, installing modern dashes, swapping out older engines with newer engines.
“Everything but paint and body work,” said Garcia. “We don’t even try to touch that area because there are lots of body shops already nearby.”
A common customer would be the owner of a car destined to or already makes its rounds in parades and car shows, but not necessarily collector cars. “Older cars, yes, but cars that people tend to drive for the local parades like Graffiti Night.”
General repairs on cars driven daily are made a priority to finish – either same day or within the week – since most other car owners don’t drive them as their main wheels.
Special events
Lucid Motorsports also occasionally hosts safe and fun events for car owners to attend and showcase their projects. One such show will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday, Nov. 30 at the shop, 2144 Pine Street and collaborating with the Marines’ Toys for Tots toy drive.
“They’re coming out in their uniform and bringing out a tactical vehicle for everybody to check out. We’re going to have a bunch of cars out there. We’re inviting all the local car community to bring their cars and display them. We’re going to have some of the cars we worked on. The shop will be open and there’s going to be food vendors there too.”
