Ceres Police are continuing their search for the car and driver who struck and killed a 60-year-old man on Mitchell Road Saturday evening.

Witnesses said they saw the man struck by a light-colored Nissan Altima at approximately 6:17 p.m. in the 3800 block of Mitchell Road.

Police said the car should have front-end damage.

For some unknown reason, the victim was in the number one northbound lane on Mitchell Road north of Service Road when he was struck. The car that hit him kept traveling northbound on Mitchell Road. 

The first officer who arrived administering CPR on the man until Ceres Fire personnel took over. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The identity of the pedestrian is being withheld until family is notified.

The Ceres Police Department traffic unit is investigating the crash. Anyone with information on the collision or may have witnessed it are asked to call Officer Ortiz at 538-5678 or Crime Stoppers.
