The body of a partially clothed man was found in the Ceres Main Canal Sunday evening and authorities are now trying to identity him, learn about his last moments and cause of death.
The body was spotted drifting under the water surface by persons walking along the canal in the 3000 block of Moore Road and reported at approximately 6 p.m.
Ceres Police officers rushed to the scene and assisted Modesto firefighters and local paramedics in pulling the man from the water. At approximately 6:24 p.m., paramedics pronounced the man, who had no form of identification, dead.
The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office took the body for a forensic examination while Ceres Police detectives launched an active investigation. Anyone with information regarding the man is encouraged to contact Detective Sergeant Jose Berber at 209-538-5672.
