A Hilmar man was killed Friday afternoon when his motorcycle was struck by a pickup truck while traveling down a country road south of Keyes.

The name of the 61-year-old victim has not been released, pending next of kin notification.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at 3:10 p.m. on Faith Home Road at the E. Taylor Road intersection.

A 2007 Ford pickup, driven by Jhonny Torres-Salinas, 50, of Turlock was headed northbound on Faith Home Road, approaching the intersection with E. Taylor Road. The motorcyclist, who was riding a 2017 Harley Davidson, was traveling southbound on Faith Home Road, also approaching the intersection with E. Taylor Road.

According to the CHP, Torres made a left turn onto Taylor Road, directly in the path of the motorcycle. The front of the motorcycle struck the right front of the Ford, causing the rider to be ejected onto the road.

The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The CHP does not believe drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.
