Firefighters raced into a burning home early Monday morning in the 3000 block of Burton Drive in Ceres and rescued a person trapped inside, officials said.

Emergency crews were sent to the burning residence at about 6:24 a.m. following reports of a working structure fire. While firefighters were on the way, 911 callers reported that someone was still inside the home and that flames were visible from Doyle Avenue, according to Modesto Fire Department Captain Joe Spani.

Fire crews quickly launched an aggressive interior search and located the occupant. The person was pulled from the home and received advanced life-saving care from firefighters and paramedics before being transported to a local hospital. The individual’s condition was not immediately released.

During the fire fight, one firefighter experienced a medical issue and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was treated and later released, noted Spani.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigation Unit.
