Planning Commission applications due Wednesday, Oct. 8

With a vacancy looming on the Ceres Planning Commission, the city has a deadline of Wednesday, for Ceres residents to submit their applications to be considered for an appointment.

The four-year term of Dave Johnson expires at the end of the year.

The city is accepting applications from persons wishing to be appointed until 5 p.m. today, Oct. 8. The council will interview applicants and make the appointment.

The newly appointed Planning Commissioners will become effective Jan. 1, 2026 and will serve a four-year term.

Besides Johnson, currently serving on the commission are Gary M. Condit, Ishwar Gill, Ruldip “R.J.” Jammu and Dr. Dorie Perez.

The Planning Commission is a permanent advisory committee of citizens appointed by the Mayor subject to confirmation by the City Council. Meetings are held on the first and third Mondays of each month at 6 p.m. to consider land use matters such as zone changes, conditional use permits, variances, subdivisions and general plan amendments.
