A Feb. 13 operation conducted by the Ceres Police Department Code Enforcement Unit and the Stanislaus County Department of Environmental Resources (DER) resulted in two unlicensed mobile food vendors cited for violations.
In addition to the citations, the Stanislaus County Department of Environmental Resources confiscated food products and cooking equipment from the two non-compliant vendors.
The operation was initiated in response to increased concerns and complaints from the community and elected officials. Unlicensed food vending operations pose health and safety risks, as food prepared and sold by these vendors is not subject to established health, safety, or quality control standards.
The city of Ceres requires all mobile food vendors to be licensed through and to comply with applicable county health regulations.
Additional enforcement operations will be conducted in the future to ensure compliance with city and county ordinance requirements.
