Ceres Police identified the fatal victim of the Dec. 2 shooting on Riverpark Drive as Zocario Benjamin Munoz, 19, of Modesto. 

Munoz and another male were shot at about 2 a.m. in the 2700 block of Riverview Park north of Hatch Road.  Munoz was found deceased in the roadway and a second male found nearby suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a group of individuals was gathered at Riverview Park when they were confronted by multiple unidentified males in a vehicle. During the confrontation, several gunshots were fired at the victims. 

The investigation remains active, and the motive is still unclear although detectives suspect gang activity was involved. Anyone with information related to this case is encouraged to contact Detective Welsh at 209-538-5616.
