Restroom work ordered at parks

The city has awarded a $285,670 contract to a Walnut Creek company to prepare the sites for new restrooms in Smyrna and Whitmore parks.

The existing restrooms at Smyrna Park will be converted to storage buildings that will house Christmas Festival items while the Whitmore restrooms will be used to house Street Faire items.

The contract calls for the plumbing and partitions to be removed as well as prepare the building pads for the new restroom buildings to be purchased under a different contract. Breneman, Inc., will be installing concrete walkways in Whitmore Park and overlaying the existing path in Smyrna Park. Stubbing out the utilities to the new restrooms is also part of the contract.
