The city of Ceres Recreation Department has partnered with Second Harvest of the Greater Valley to provide food to 100 seniors.

The Silver Harvest program is currently available in several cities but this is the first time the program is being offered in Stanislaus County.

Silver Harvest is for eligible seniors who must apply at the Ceres Community Center and become a registered member. If approved, each member will receive a card with an ID number.

To qualify, persons must be at least 60 years of age, reside in Ceres or Hughson (priority will be given to Ceres residents), and meet low-income eligibility. Single seniors with a monthly income of $2,071 or less qualify while a two-person household cannot exceed $2,811 per month.

There is a limit of one registration per household.

Food distributions will take place on the first and third Wednesdays of each month from 11 a.m. to 12 noon beginning Sept. 3.

To sign up, visit the Ceres Community Center, 2701 Fourth Street.
