HICKMAN – Two persons were killed in a fiery crash that took place Tuesday on Hickman Road, just north of Cogswell Road.
The names of the victims were not available.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) received a report about a traffic crash and when emergency personnel arrived they found a 2012 Toyota sedan fully engulfed in flames. The two passengers inside the vehicle died at the scene.
Preliminary investigation indicates the driver of the Toyota was traveling northbound on Hickman Road, north of Cogswell Road when a sudden right turn movement occurred, causing the vehicle to leave the east edge of the pavement. The front of the Toyota struck a raised concrete irrigation box and caught on fire with the two occupants still inside. Their identities are not known at this time.
Investigators don’t know if drugs and/or alcohol contributed to the crash.
Hickman Road was closed during the investigation as motorists were diverted through the area with minimal delay.
