Annabelle Hankins, a Whitmore Charter High School sophomore, was honored by the Ceres Rotary Club on Friday as the “Rotary Student of the Month.” Helping to honor her were Whitmore Charter High School officials.

According to school leaders, Annabelle consistently demonstrates academic excellence while balancing rigorous coursework at Modesto Junior College. Ms. Hankins is taking condensed sessions so she can complete more units in a semester. Annabelle is on track to finish her 60 transferable credits at the end of the fall 2026 semester, with the goal of applying to a four-year college after high school as an upper-division transfer student. Annabelle plans to study neurology.

In class she shows natural curiosity and intelligence by asking thoughtful questions and always completing work of high quality.

Annabelle has shined in extracurricular activities. In the Theater II class, Annabelle consistently handles lighting for productions at Whitmore, including coming in on Fridays to help with lighting for elementary performances. This year, Annabelle was also an actress in “SpongeBob: The Musical,” playing the role of Mrs. Puff. For a student who is typically more comfortable behind the scenes, this was an impressive step outside her comfort zone.

Annabelle is also active in WCHS’s Interact Club, serving as an officer for the last two years.
