A young man was clinging to life Tuesday morning after being shot in the head while sitting on or scaling a concrete wall in an alley way of the 2000 block of Donna Way Monday afternoon.

The 20-year-old victim had just exchanged words with the driver of a pickup that pulled up to the scene at approximately 4:10 p.m.. The driver of the pickup then shot twice at the victim with what is believed to be a small-caliber handgun, striking him in the head. The wounded suspect fell off the wall into a yard in the 2000 block of Freeda Way.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was in critical condition.

The suspect fled the scene. He was described as a Hispanic adult in his 30s with short, dark, slicked back hair wearing a white striped button-up shirt. His vehicle was described as a clean, newer Chevy or Ford extended cab pickup, silver or champagne colored. Police urge anyone with information to call Detective Derek Perry at 538-5730.
