Police arrest 4 in motel slaying

Four persons arrested last week have been linked to the Oct. 29 homicide at the Howard Johnson Inn in Ceres.

Ceres police investigators were seeking the arrest of Antonio Jermaine Smith, 31, for the shooting death of Jesus Maya, 26, of Modesto. Modesto police officers picked up Smith during a 6:43 p.m. Friday traffic stop at Briggsmore Avenue and Sisk Road.

Smith was charged with murder, armed robbery and receiving stolen property.

Three others were arrested on Tuesday, Nov. 23. Also linked with the murder were:

• Jessica Ann Wilson, 27, charged with murder;

• Neco Jilleanne Smith, 28, charged with murder and possession of methamphetamine;

• Kimberly Ann Prue, 27, charged with being an accessory after the fact.

All four were being held at the jail without bail.

Police did not elaborate on the motive in the killing.

Maya died from a single shot to the back prior to 7:13 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 29.
