A 28-year-old South Modesto man has been charged with picking up a developmentally disabled Ceres High School and twice raping on separate days last week.

Sheriff's detectives arrested Valentin Delariva, 29, of South Modesto after the 16-year-old victim pointed out his residence.

Royjinder Singh, a Public Information Officer with the Sheriff's Department, said Delariva picked up the girl as she was walking in front of Ceres High School. The girl got into the suspect's car after he asked her to get in, and allegedly drove the girl to his home in the 1900 block of Alamo in South Modesto. There it's believed Delariva smoked marijuana with her and forced her to have sex against her will. After the act Delariva drove the girl to her home, said Singh.

The alleged rapes took place on March 3 and 4. The crime was reported to authorities on Wednesday after the girl told what happened to her friends. An arrest was made on Thursday.

He was being held on $50,000 bail.
