A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10 at College Avenue Congregational Church, 1341 College Avenue, in Modesto for Alberta June Kline (Clark) May, 93, of Ceres. She died Dec. 26, 2008.

Born Nov. 27, 1915 in Boise, Idaho, June was the first child of All Bert and Lulu Belle Clark. The Clarks moved to Ceres in 1923 and then moved to Modesto, where she graduated from Modesto High School. On July 2, 1932, she married Harry Kline, whose family lived nearby. They had three children, Theodora, Neil, and Harry. After living in Richmond during the early part of World War II and in Oregon during the rest of the war, the family moved back to Modesto in 1947. For many years June and Harry were active in Neighbors of Woodcraft and the Modesto Trailer Club. June was also a member of the Emblem Club, while Harry was a member of Elks. Several years after her husband Harry died in 1980, June met Philip May. They were married on May 1, 1990, and made their home in Ceres. June and Philip were docents at McHenry Museum, members of the Ceres Historical Society, and helpers of the Salvation Army during the holiday season. Because Philip was a longtime Mason, June also joined the Eastern Star part of the Masons.

She leaves behind her children, Theodora Schock of Modesto, Neil Kline of Marietta, Ga., and Harry Kline of Saratoga; her brother, Donald Clark of Corvallis, Ore.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
