Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Lakewood Funeral Home for Alma Marie La Rosa, 85, of Hughson. She died Dec. 12, 2008 in Modesto.

A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Hughson United Methodist Church at 6th and Fox Road in Hughson.

Lakewood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and private interment at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Born April 27, 1923, Alma was a native of Mankato, Kansas. For 65 years she has lived with her family in Hughson where they have farmed the land. Mrs. La Rosa enjoyed gardening, cooking, and baking and was considered a great Italian cook despite being Norwegian. Alma's favorite thing was to spend time with her grandchildren.

She leaves behind her sons, Joe La Rosa and Frank La Rosa; four grandchildren, Joey La Rosa, John La Rosa, Mike La Rosa, and Lora La Rosa-Villarreal; and 10 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by husband Frank La Rosa.
