A vigil will be held at 7 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) at Allen Mortuary in Turlock for Altaina "Tina" Garcia, 90, of Turlock. The former Hughson resident died Sunday, March 27, 2005 at Turlock Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the mortuary.
A Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial at Turlock Memorial Park.
Born Oct. 20, 1914, Mrs. Garcia was a native of Newman and lived in Stanislaus County for 60 years. She was a cannery worker. Mrs. Garcia graduated from Hughson High School in 1932. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sacred Heart School Mothers Guild, SPRSI and Teamsters union No.748.
She leaves behind two children, Kathy Latif of Turlock and Margie Wedge of Waterford; and her brother, Tony Fernandes of Turlock. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Garcia; and two sisters.
Remembrances may be sent to United Samaritans Foundation, 219 S. Broadway, Turlock, CA 95380; or to a favorite charity.
