A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 5047 S. Central Ave., Ceres, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 14 for Barbara Arment, 81, of Ceres. She died peacefully in her sleep at her home on March 4, 2009.

Born Dec 20, 1927 in Exeter to Rhoma and Margaret Esther Marshall, Barbara lived much of her younger life in the Ceres area with some time in Oregon and Washington. She also spent many years in San Jose with her husband and children before resettling in Ceres in 1972. Mrs. Arment worked as a bank teller for several years. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and sewing. She received her greatest joy serving in her ministry as one of Jehovah's Witnesses and conducted many Bible studies over the last 43 years.

She leaves behind two children, James Arment of Tucson, Ariz., and Susan Fackrell of Ceres; her sister, Lorraine Murray of Merced; her brother, Harley Marshall of Apple Valley; six grandchildren, Jeremy Fackrell, Jessica Bennett, Julie Fackrell, Janelle Young, Genna Lynn and Savanna Arment; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband Eugene Arment and brother Norman Marshall.
