A funeral was held Saturday at Lakewood Funeral Home Chapel for Benny Torrez, 76, of Ceres. He died Friday, April 8, 2005 at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.
Burial was at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Born Aug. 3, 1928, Mr. Torrez was a native of Chama, N.M., and lived in Ceres for 18 years. He previously lived in Fremont for 15 years. Mr. Torrez was a machinist for the food industry who enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting.
He leaves behind his wife, Helen Torrez of Ceres; two children, Janet Williamson of Modesto and Gary Torrez of Vancouver, Wash.; his brother, Tito Torrez of Ceres; three sisters, Frances Green of Longmont, Colo., and Clorinda Mansfield and Linda Flanigan, both of Albuquerque, N.M.; and eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
