A funeral was held Tuesday at the Hughson Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for Charles Adren Johnson, 96, of Hughson. He died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004 at Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock.

Burial was at Lakewood Memorial Park under the direction of Eaton Family Funeral Home.

Born Dec. 19, 1907, Mr. Johnson was a native of Raymond, Alberta, Canada and lived in Hughson for 15 years and in Stanislaus County for 70 years. He was a beekeeper and a Stanislaus County bee inspector. Mr. Johnson was president, vice president and board member of the Valley Honey Co-op, a board member of the California Honey Advisory Board from 1961-69, president of California State Beekeepers Association and a member of the Delta Bee Club. He also was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Hughson Ward, and served a mission in the Philippines at the age of 75. Mr. Johnson enjoyed working with wood.

He leaves behind five children, Nathan A. Johnson of Fresno, Glen I. Johnson of Volcano, Orin V. Johnson of Hughson, Myrna Clawson of Ceres and Arleen Paul of Concord; and 25 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frona L. Johnson.
