A graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m. today at St. Stanislaus Cemetery at 1141 Scenic Drive, Modesto, for Christopher Mendonca, 90, of Ceres. He died June 8, 2012.
Franklin & Downs Colonial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Born Feb. 26, 1922 in the Westport area to Connie and Marie Mendonca, Christopher had been a lifetime resident of the Westport community. He served in the U.S. Navy and a veteran of both World War II and the Korean War. Mr. Mendonca was a farmer and an active 4H leader when his children were young. He enjoyed fishing and telling stories and was a great handyman.
He leaves behind his son Michael Mendonca; his grandchildren, Julie Abell, Christopher Mendonca, Amy Hulsey, John Mendonca, Jana Moring and Michael Mendonca; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Rosina Mendonca and his children Steven and John Mendonca.
