Family and friends are mourning the loss of Claire Marie Price, 83, of Hughson. She died Aug. 3, 2008 at Emanual Medical Center in Turlock.
Born in 1925 in the Tokay Colony, Claire moved with her family, including her mother Pauline, father Rudolph, sister Elsie and brother Ray, to start a ranch north of Escalon. Claire graduated from Escalon High School and then a professional nursing school in Stockton. She was married to and later divorced from Escalon businessman and farmer David Trevoy Price. In 1980 she moved to Modesto and recently lived at Samaritan Village in Hughson.
Mrs. Price loved to traveling to Europe, Russia, Mexico and around the United States. She enjoyed cooking, making jams and Christmas cookies, raising vegetables, quilting and embroiderery. Mrs. Price was an avid collector of American Indian rugs and one-of-a- kind owl sculptures. She was a member of Doctors Medical Center Service League, the National Federation of Republican Women and was a past member of the Mercedes Owners Club and the International Flying Farmers serving as Secretary for the California Flying Farmers in 1996.
She leaves behind her three children, Mindi, Tim and Noel; her grandchildren, Rianna, Regan, Georgia and Wren, Kellon; and great-grandchildren, Alisha and Aaron.
