A Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church for Cristobal Chavez Contreras, 80, of Ceres. He died Wednesday, May 18, 2005y at Dameron Hospital Association in Stockton.

Burial will be at Turlock Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today at Allen Mortuary in Turlock.

Born June 26, 1924, Mr. Contreras was a native of Michoacn, Mexico, and lived in Ceres for five years. He was a laborer who enjoyed fishing, mariachi music and dancing.

He leaves behind 12 children, Gabriel Chavez-Espinosa, Cristobal Chavez-Espinosa, Jesus Chavez-Espinosa, Yolanda Cha-vez and Gloria Chavez, all of Turlock, Victoriano Chavez-Espinosa of Delhi, Pablo Chavez Espinosa of Los Banos, Magdalena Chavez and Agripina Chavez, both of Ceres, and Manuel Chavez-Espinosa, Ignacio Chavez-Espinosa and Esther Chavez, all of Mexico; two sisters, Dolores Chavez-Contreras and Lidia Chavez-Contreras, both of Mexico; and 38 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.
