Services were held Saturday at the Ceres Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Chapel for David Andrew Escobar, 41, of Redding. The former Ceres resident died April 12, 2008.

Internment was at Turlock Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Eaton Family Funeral Home.

Born July 10, 1966, Mr. Escobar was a native of Modesto and attended schools in Ceres and Modesto. He graduated from Downey High School in 1985 and then attended Modesto Junior College and Shasta College. He worked for the Forestry Service, the Federal Firefighting Service on the West Coast and the National Parks Service at Whiskeytown and Shasta State Historic Parks. At the time of his death he was employed at Sierra Pacific Industries.

David was known for his creative, fun loving and adventurous spirit. He loved nature, mountain climbing and outdoors. He was a tender father and was always concerned for the welfare of others. He was a great cook and delighted friends and family with his creative meals.

He leaves behind his wife, Nikola Escobar; two children, Lillie Mae Escobar, 4 and Andrew Escobar, 3; his parents, Mary and Robert Escobar of Ceres; his sisters, Rochelle VanDriel of Carmicheal, Julie Posey of Salinas, Jennifer Rush of Modesto and Karyn Hays of Katy, Texas; his brothers, Curtis Escobar of Union City, Stephen Escobar of Modesto, Robert Escobar of Turlock and Paul Escobar of San Francisco.
