A memorial service will be held at Allen Mortuary in Turlock at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 18, for Dolly Georgia Hanchett, 87, of Ceres. She died June 14 at Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock.
Born October 1922 in Oklahoma, Dolly was the daughter of Thomas and Maggie Lawson. She grew up in Oklahoma where she attended school. In 1940 she married Troy McChristian. After less than two years, while pregnant with their first child, Troy was tragically killed by a vehicle while walking in the street. Dolly, who loved horses, sold her favorite horse in order to fund a move to California. In 1945 she married Marc Hanchett. Their marriage lasted 52 years until his dath in 1997.
She leaves behind her children, Dale McChristian of Ceres, Tom Hanchett of Palmetto, Fla., and Marilyn Nord of Arnold; and five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
