Don E. Fisher

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the Chapel of the Chimes Memorial Park and Funeral Home in Union City for Don Edd Fisher, 74, of Ceres. He died Jan. 27, 2009.

Born April 22, 1934 in Seminole County, Okla., Don moved to Fremont where he resided for over 60 years. Don lived the last year of his life in Ceres, with his daughter, Nancy Stryker. Mr. Fisher served in the Navy for four years beginning in 1952 as an aviation electronics technician and radar operator. Later Don returned to work as a steel worker at Pacific States Steel Corporation in Union City for 27 years. He was superintendent of the Open Hearth Furnaces. When the plant closed in 1978 Don worked for five years as a correctional officer for the Elmwood Correctional Facility in Santa Clara County. Don enjoyed golfing, camping, boating and fishing and was an avid fan of the Oakland A's, San Francisco Giants and San Francisco 49ers.

He leaves behind his children, Nancy Stryker of Ceres, Randy Ulibarri, Gary Ulibarri, Anthony Ulibarri of Manteca, Karen Stanton, Karla Smith, Kellye Fisher and Kevin Fisher; two brothers, Ralph Fisher and John Fisher; three sisters, Francis Masuda, Nancy Wright and Susan Fisher-Kirshner; and 10 grandchildren and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years Evelyn Fisher, son Richard Ulibarri and his parents Henry and Delta Fisher.
