A graveside service was held Saturday at Turlock Memorial Park for Donald F. Johnson, 86, of Hughson. He died Dec. 23, 2009 at Brandel Manor Rehabilitation Center.

A memorial service followed at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

Turlock Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Born March 15, 1923 in Seattle, Wash., to Carl and Anna Johnson, Donald was a a brick and block contractor for 40 years in Turlock. He retired and moved to Samaritan Village assisted living in Hughson. Mr. Johnson was a veteran of World War II and served in Australia and New Guinea. He attended College of the Pacific in Stockton prior to his service. Mr. Johnson was a member of Rotary, the Lions Club, the VFW, the Bricklayer's Union, the Board of the Little League, SIRS, the Lutheran Church Extension Fund, and served in many leadership positions at Good Shepherd Lutheran church for over 60 years.

He leaves behind his three children, Kathleen Lindquist of Turlock, James Johnson of Elk, and Robert Johnson of Concord; seven grandchildren, Randy Lindquist of Turlock, Lori Wagner of Denair, Todd Johnson of Fresno, Brett Johnson of Petaluma, Jill Johnson of Concord, Christopher Johnson of Mendocino, Timothy Johnson of Palm Springs, and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and a brother, and his wife of 61 years, Marjorie.
