A funeral service was held Monday at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel for Edna Bumgardner, 89, of Oakdale. The former Ceres resident died peacefully on May 28, 2012 with her family at her bedside.
Burial was at Ceres Memorial Park.
Born Nov. 29, 1922 in Stidham, Okla., to John and Minnie Hickey, Edna moved to California as a young child. She married Vernal Bumgardner on Nov. 15, 1941. They made their home in Ceres for over 50 years. A few years after her husband's death in 1993 she moved to Oakdale. She was a member of the Church of Christ for approxiately 70 years.
She leaves behind three children, Karen Wilkins, Cheryl DePonte and Gary Bumgardner; and eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by husband Vernal and a granddaughter.
