A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on April 12 at the McHenry Mobile Park clubhouse, 4125 McHenry Avenue, Modesto, for Elbert "Al" Huston Ledford, 88, of Modesto. He died Saturday, March 15, 2008.

Allen Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Born April 1919, Mr. Ledford was a longtime resident of Modesto. Al moved his young family to Modesto in 1951 where he and wife Virginia worked hard to build their life. He worked as a maintenance mechanic for years, operated a board and care home in Ceres, and managed McHenry Mobile Park in later years. During World War II Mr. Ledford served in the Army in the Pacific theatre. He enjoyed ornamental ironwork, horses, traveling in the motor home, and especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He leaves behind his children, Linda Conrad, of Hughson and Neil Ledford of Aromas; five grandchildren, Steven Bearden and Tim Bearden, both of of Houston, Texas, Amy Cornelsen and Lisa O'Callaghan, both of Salinas, and Lori Ledford of Aromas; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by wife Virginia Frances McFarland Ledford in 1998.
