A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 1 at Central Avenue General Baptist Church, 944 Central Avenue, Ceres, for Ernest "Ernie" Neal Tiwater, 70, of South Modesto. He died Sept. 25, 2009 after a fight against cancer.
Born Nov. 8, 1939 in Wilburton, Okla., Ernie resided in Modesto for 65 years. He was an avid fisherman and past bass tournament champion, with a love of family and gardening.
He leaves behind his wife, Ellie Tiwater; his mother, Lillie Dalton; his children, Ford Tiwater of Modesto, Sylvia DuBurg of Ceres, and Dani Stavrianoudakis of Hughson; two brothers, Tom Tiwater and Floyd Tiwater; and 12 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.
