A Celebration of Life was held Thursday at the Ceres Chapel of Franklin & Downs for Evelyn Knott, 87, of Ceres. She died Aug. 15, 2009 at Manteca Kaiser with her children at her side.

Burial was at Oak Hill Memorial Park in San Jose.

Born Feb. 9, 1922 in Montrose, S.D., Eveleyn was married to the late Edward Knott on Dec. 30, 1940. They arrived in San Jose in 1945. She worked for Thrifty Drug for 25 years before retiring. She came to live in Ceres in 1997 to be close to family. She was active with the senior community and loved to sew and create items for her grandchildren.

She leaves behind four children, Gladys Boland of Ceres, Georgia Davidson of Rocklin, Gloria Johnson of Redding and Randy Knott of Redding; and 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband Edward Knott.
