A rosary was held Wednesday afternoon at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Ripon for Frank C. Bettencourt, 81, of Ripon. He died Sunday, June 5, 2005 at Manteca Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Deegan Funeral Chapel in Escalon, was in charge of arrangements.

Born Oct. 10, 1923, Mr. Bettencourt was a native of Keyes and lived in Ripon for 55 years. He was a farmer and a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Mr. Bettencourt also was a member of the American Legion Ripon Post 190, MRPS Society in Manteca, Ripon Luso-American Society, Manteca Dinner Dance Club and Dante Dinner Dance Club in Escalon. He enjoyed travel and gardening. Mr. Bettencourt served in the Army.

He leaves behind his wife, Mary Bettencourt of Ripon; five children, Anna Marie Newton of Modesto, John F. Bettencourt of Ripon, Betty Ann Bettencourt of Columbia, Mary Ann Bettencourt of Cupertino and Frank C. Bettencourt of Costa Mesa; two sisters, Clara Marcus of Modesto and Josephine Costa of Tracy; and four grandchildren.
