Services were held Friday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Modesto for Genevie Mae Silva, 87, of Ceres. She died March 12, 2010 at the Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson.
Born April 20, 1922 in Salina Kansas, Jenny graduated in 1939 from Redemptorist High School in Kansas City. During World War II, she worked for North American Aviation in Kansas City and later moved to San Francisco. At this time she met and married her first husband Louis Rossi. She had two sons with Louis but they later divorced in 1950. In 1954 she married Frank Silva, a Sacramento dairyman. She worked on the dairy and raised two children with Frank. After selling the dairy in 1965, the couple moved to Woodland. Jenny and Frank both worked at UC Davis until they retired. After 26 years of marriage, they were divorced in 1980. Jenny retired in 1987 after serving as a secretary for several doctors at the medical school and finally as an administrative assistant for the Dean of the Graduate School of Management. She then lived in Woodland, until 2005 when she moved in with her son Daniel in Ceres.
She leaves behind her son, Daniel of Ceres; and six grandchildren, Nicole Silva, Heather Silva and Lucas Silva, Logan Lyda, and Jeffrey Rossi and William Rossi. She was preceded in death by sons Terry L. Rossi, Thomas L. Rossi and Frank P. Silva Jr., father Joseph Hubbard and mother Laura Wright.
