A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Ceres Christian Center for George A. Peart, 83, of Ceres. He died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004 at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.

Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery near Santa Nella.

Eaton Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born Jan. 13, 1921, Mr. Peart was a native of Alexandria, La., and lived in Ceres for 32 years. He was a minister and attended Ceres Christian Center. He served as a missionary in Mexico, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Canada. Mr. Peart was an Army veteran and served from 1943-45 in the Philippines.

He leaves behind his wife, Rita Peart of Ceres; five children, Bill Peart of Escondido, Glenn Peart and Roy Peart, both of Ceres, Georgie Smith of Delco, Idaho, and Ronda Gibson of Fordland, Mo.; and 27 grandchildren and more than 40 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Travis Peart.
