Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Lakewood Funeral Home for George A. Ruggiero, 75, of Ceres. He died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006 at Colony Park Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Modesto.

A chapel service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Born Feb. 21, 1930, Mr. Ruggiero was a native of Modesto and a lifelong resident of Stanislaus County. He owned Ruggiero Milk Transport. Mr. Ruggiero was a 1948 graduate of Ceres High School and a member of the all-state football team. He enjoyed fishing and travel.

Mr. Ruggiero leaves behind six children, Carmen Ruggiero of Ione, Laurey Fillman of Ceres, Denise Barber of Montague, Nancy Eldridge of Mount Shasta, Julie Downes of Douglas, Texas, and Irene Beri of Arlington, Kan.; and 20 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Mario Ruggiero.
