A funeral service was held Saturday at Lakewood Funeral Home for Gordon Leal Roy, 96, of Turlock. The former Ceres resident died Oct. 5, 2010.
Born May 30, 1914 near Van Buren, Mo., Gordon moved to Big Piney, Mo., where he married Argie Lane on Dec. 18,1932. They had one child before moving to Ceres in November, 1934. They lived in Ceres for 27 years, moving to Turlock in 1961. Mr. Roy was employed as a carpenter before his retirement. Gordon was a member of the Assemblies of God Church and gave his heart to God on April 15, 1939.
He leaves behind three children, Leslie Leal Roy, Betty Audine Fuller and Gordon Duane Roy; and eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
