The McHenry Chapel of Franklin & Downs was in charge of arrangements for Helen J. Doleman Copeland, 94, of Modesto. She died Monday, Sept. 20, 2004 at Bethel Retirement Community.

Born May 23, 1910, Mrs. Copeland was a native and lifelong resident of Modesto. She was an elementary school teacher for 26 years, working at Hart-Ransom, Keyes and Enslen schools. Mrs. Copeland was a member of The Salvation Army Auxiliary, Modesto Senior Citizens, the National Teachers Association and the California Retired Teachers Association.
She leaves behind her children, Alan Copeland of Livermore and Cynthia Alfaro of Novato; and four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Copeland.
