A Mass of Christian burial was held Tuesday at St Anthony's Catholic Church in Hughson for Irma Mora, 72, of Modesto. She died Feb. 17, 2009 after a bout with cancer.

Burial was at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Born Oct. 12, 1936, Irma was a native of Durango, Mexico, and raised in Mexico City. While there, she graduated from Universidad SA de Mexico City and became a secondary school teacher. She married Antonio Mora in 1958 and came to California. She graduated from Modesto Junior College and eventually earned her bachelor's degree from the University of La Verne. She taught at Stanislaus County Head Start programs and retired as the pre-school teacher at Hughson Elementary School. After her husband's passing, she took over the running of their ranch and retailed her fruit at California Farmer's Markets all over the Bay Area and Northern California.

She leaves behind her children Patricia Iniguez of Fresno, Eddy Mora of Denair and Tony Mora of Florida; four sisters, Virgina Rodriguez of Texas, Alicia Medina, Josefina Quijas and Gracielia Escoto, all of Mexico; and seven grandchildren, Michael, David, Sara, Ruben Jr., Natalia, Miranda, and Ricardo.
