A celebration of life will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. today at Trinity Baptist Church, 1346 Ronald Ave., Modesto, for James Downs, 62, of Ceres. He died March 1, 2012 in Hughson.
Born Oct. 26, 1949 in Phoenix, Ariz., Jim was a lifelong resident of the Modesto and Ceres area. He graduated from Modesto High School in 1967. Jim was a truck driver. He was an avid classic car buff and enjoyed going to car shows.
He leaves behind his wife, Linda Downs of Ceres; his children, Brian Downs of Oakdale, Steven Downs of Ceres, Tisha Downs-Murrison of Hickman and Megan Downs of Ceres; three brothers, Gerald Downs of Ripon, Jack Downs of Jamestown and Gary Bell of Modesto; three sisters, Sherry Downs of Portland, Ore., Linda McCoy of Ceres and Yvonne Rowland of Vacaville; and four grandchildren. he was preceded in death by parents Joseph and Della Virginia Downs, brother Robert Downs and sister Mona Cardera.
