James L. Short

A memorial service was held Saturday at Hughson United Methodist Church for James L. Short, 55, of Hughson. He died peacefully on April 6, 2011 at his residence.

Born in February 1956 in Turlock, to Phillip and Kay Short, James was raised in Hughson and graduated from Hughson High School in 1974. He attended Modesto Junior College and became a welder and had a career in heavy construction. James attended Waterford Foursquare Church. He was a cowboy, and loved leading pack trips into the wilderness. He was also artistic and creative with his welding, making metal sculptures and decor.

He leaves behind his wife, Louise Short of Hughson; his daughter, Crystina Foley of Mariposa; his mother, Kay Short of Hughson; two brothers, Phillip Short and David Short, both of Hughson; and two sisters, Lisa Warner of Hickman, and Virginia Castro of Manteca. He was preceded in death by father Phillip Short.
