Services were held yesterday at Ceres Memorial Park for Jim L. Vilmur, 84, of Ravendale. The former Ceres resident died Dec. 19, 2010.

Born January 4, 1926, Jim moved from Ada, Okla., with his parents, Joe and Judy Vilmur, and siblings in 1941. He joined the Army where he was honored with several awards, one being the Purple Heart after being wounded at Dartmen, Germany. After returning to Ceres he met and married his wife, Helen Vilmur. They were married 64 years. They had two children, Linda and Jim Jr., two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Jim worked as a heavy equipment operator and ranch forman for Jim McClesky for many years.

He is survived by his wife Helen Vilmur of Ravendale; his grandaughter, Erica Schmid of Ravendale; and four great-grandchildren, Tanya Schmid, Shannon Schmid, Randy Schmid and Hannah Ferris, all of Ravendale; his brother, Clifford Vilmur; two sisters, Emma Quinette and Polly Harris; and his sister in-law, Helen Gibson. He was preceded in death by his two children, Linda Jordan and Jim Vilmur Jr., his parents, his grandson Garrett Vilmur, and four brothers and two sisters.
