A Mass will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Jude's Catholic Church for Jorge Medina, 71, of Ceres. He died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005 at his home.

Burial will follow at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery in Modesto.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel in Modesto, with the rosary at 7:30 p.m.

Born July 15, 1934, Mr. Medina was a native of Purpero, Michoacn, Mexico, and had lived in Ceres since 1983. He previously lived in Modesto for 16 years. Mr. Medina was a baker and grocer for 22 years and owned the El Michoacan in Modesto. He was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church, Ceres. Mr. Medina was a member of Knights of Columbus in Ceres. He enjoyed gardening.

Mr. Medina leaves behnd his wife, Delfina Medina of Ceres; seven children, Bertha Garcia, Jorge Medina Jr. and Sergio Medina, all of Modesto, Yolanda Reyes of Garden Grove, Jose Cortez and Vanessa Carranza, both of Ceres, and Robert Medina of Keyes; his brother, Rogelio Medina of Merced; five sisters, Vitermina Med-ina, Martha Medina, Alberta Medina, Guadalupe Medina and Socorro Medina, all of Merced; and 20 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister; and one great-great-grandchild.
